The easing of New Zealand’s travel advisory for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is anticipated to boost tourism and travel demand between the two countries. This change, which shifts the warning from Level 3, advising against non-essential travel, to Level 2, encourages travelers to exercise increased caution instead. As a result, New Zealanders can now more freely visit or transit through the UAE, contributing to the region’s recovering tourism sector.
Richard Kay, New Zealand’s Ambassador to the UAE, expressed approval of the relaxed travel guidelines, highlighting the opportunity for travelers to explore the UAE while staying alert to any changes in security conditions. The UAE’s efforts to revitalize its tourism industry have seen positive trends, particularly in Dubai, where international visitor numbers have rebounded significantly.
In August, Dubai welcomed 869,000 international overnight visitors, marking the highest monthly total since February. This resurgence in tourism is complemented by a rise in hotel occupancy, which soared to 66 percent in August from a mere 36 percent in March. Such improvements underscore the UAE’s commitment to restoring its status as a global tourist destination.
The UAE is actively working to have travel advisories lowered by other nations as well, aiming to further stimulate its tourism and aviation sectors. Although some countries still advise increased caution, the overall trend indicates a gradual return to normalcy in international travel.
As the UAE continues to recover from disruptions caused by regional conflicts, the revised travel advisory from New Zealand is seen as a positive step towards strengthening bilateral travel ties and supporting the broader recovery of the UAE’s tourism industry.
