The UAE Urban Search and Rescue team has once again been recognized on the international stage, as President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan extended his congratulations for the team retaining the esteemed “heavy” classification. This designation, regarded as the highest international rating, is awarded by the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG), a body affiliated with the United Nations.
This marks the third occasion that the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority’s team has secured this elite status, solidifying the UAE’s standing in the field of emergency preparedness and disaster response. The achievement underscores the country’s ongoing commitment to excellence in managing natural disasters and humanitarian crises, both domestically and internationally.
Sheikh Mohamed lauded the team’s professionalism, dedication, and readiness to deploy, noting their swift response capabilities in times of crisis. He emphasized that this accomplishment not only reflects the UAE’s adherence to humanitarian values but also enhances its global reputation in the realm of disaster management.
The announcement was made during a ceremony held at Qasr Al Bahr Palace, which saw attendance from Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, along with various senior officials and distinguished guests.
