Motorists navigating the bustling areas around Al Safah and City Walk in Dubai will experience significant traffic diversions as part of an ambitious road development initiative. These changes are designed to maintain the flow of traffic and improve access during the construction phase, which marks a crucial step in the city’s long-term plan to enhance its infrastructure.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has implemented these diversions on both Al Satwa Street and Al Multaqa Street. This move is part of the broader Al Safa Street development project, which aims to boost road connectivity and alleviate congestion in one of the city’s busiest districts. The diversions are necessary to facilitate ongoing construction activities without causing major disruptions to daily commutes.
This initiative is a segment of a larger, Dh2 billion infrastructure project that seeks to strengthen the connectivity between key roads across the emirate. Known as the Latifa bint Hamdan corridor project, this extensive development will span 12 kilometers, linking major thoroughfares including Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Khail Road, and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road, among others.
Upon completion, the upgraded corridor is expected to accommodate more than 16,000 vehicles per hour in both directions, significantly improving traffic flow and reducing travel times for countless commuters. Key components of this development include seven bridges covering a distance of 2.3 kilometers and eight tunnels spanning 900 meters, all scheduled to be completed by the end of 2028.
As Dubai continues to expand its urban landscape, these infrastructure improvements are pivotal for supporting the city’s growth and maintaining its status as a major global hub.
