Dubai is set to undergo a transformative phase with the announcement of a Dh2.1 trillion project pipeline, unveiled by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The comprehensive investment plan spans sectors such as real estate, transport, aviation, energy, and infrastructure, aiming to propel the emirate’s economic growth and solidify its status as a global business hub.

Sheikh Mohammed shared details of this ambitious development strategy during the Mohammed bin Rashid Leadership Forum at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Describing the initiative as building a “city within a city,” he emphasized the importance of long-term planning and infrastructure development to meet future demands.

A significant portion of the investment, Dh1.1 trillion, is earmarked for real estate, with plans to build approximately 350,000 residential units by 2030 to cater to the growing population. The aviation sector is also a priority, with Dh128 billion allocated to Al Maktoum International Airport, enhancing its capacity to accommodate up to 260 million passengers annually. Additionally, Dh328 billion will be used to expand the Emirates and flydubai fleets, complemented by a Dh18.7 billion investment in a new Emirates engineering and maintenance complex.

Infrastructure improvements are another focus, with Dh100 billion dedicated to road upgrades and the expansion of the Dubai Metro Blue and Gold lines. The energy sector will see Dh151 billion invested in expanding electricity and water networks, while Dh80 billion is allocated for the Dubai Strategic Sewerage Tunnels system.

In a bid to bolster its financial services sector, Dubai plans to invest Dh100 billion in the second phase of the Dubai International Financial Centre. This move underscores the emirate’s commitment to enhancing its international business infrastructure.

Sheikh Mohammed reiterated Dubai’s strategy of investing ahead of demand to ensure sustainable growth. The extensive project pipeline is designed to expand housing, improve transport connectivity, increase aviation capacity, and enhance essential services, ultimately supporting economic diversification and attracting more international investment.
