by admin477351

In a significant move to bolster its international aviation network, Thailand is forging new alliances with Vietnam Airlines and flydubai while also aiming to enhance regional airport infrastructure. These developments are part of Thailand’s broader strategy to boost connectivity and support its flourishing tourism sector.

Vietnam Airlines has recently introduced a new route connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Phuket, commencing on July 2. This service operates four times a week and is designed to accommodate approximately 39,500 passengers annually. The initiative addresses the surging travel demand from Vietnam, which saw over 300,000 tourists visiting Thailand in just the first half of the year.

Adding to the growing connectivity, flydubai launched daily flights between Dubai and Bangkok starting July 1. This route is set to increase its frequency to twice daily from September 15, thus strengthening the ties between the UAE and Thailand and offering more travel options for passengers.

In a separate development aimed at improving air traffic management and operational efficiency, Thailand plans to introduce the Aerodrome Flight Information Service (AFIS) at its regional airports. This upgrade is expected to enhance access to secondary cities and improve overall airspace management. Initially, the AFIS system will be implemented at Phrae and Phetchabun airports by 2028, with the potential for further expansion to additional regional airports thereafter.

Together, these strategic efforts reflect Thailand’s commitment to expanding its aviation capabilities and supporting its tourism industry, ensuring that the country remains a key destination for international travelers.
